STARBUCKS LABEL SIGNS JONI MITCHELL

NEW YORK (AP) – Starbucks customers will soon be able to get a Joni Mitchell C-D with their frozen latte. The singer has signed a two-album deal with Starbucks’ “Hear Music” label. Her album, “Shine,” will be available at Starbucks stores on September 25th. “Shine” includes nine new songs as well as a new version of Mitchell’s hit, “Big Yellow Taxi.” “Shine,” is Mitchell’s first album of new compositions since 1998.
She says the album is “as serious a work as I’ve ever done” with some dark lyrics. Mitchell is following the lead of Paul McCartney in joining with Starbucks to release an album. McCartney’s album — “Memory Almost Full” — came out last month and was played relentlessly at Starbucks franchises, where listeners could purchase it with their coffee.
