Stores Open Longer, Offer Big Discounts To Draw Holiday Shoppers.

The nation’s retailers are hoping extended hours and bigger discounts will draw in consumers in the final week of a holiday shopping season that one analyst calls “disappointing” so far.
Toys “R” Us plans to keep its stores open until midnight every day until Christmas Eve. Starting Friday, several Macy’s stores will stay open all night.
Economic worries have forced shoppers to procrastinate on holiday buying more this year than last year. One analyst says “shoppers are more frugal and cost-conscious because they have less money to spend.”
The economic troubles are being felt online as well. Online sales are up this year, but the growth is coming in lower than expectations.
