New rules aimed at improving access to New Jersey’s beaches link state aid to bathrooms and parking.
The state Environmental Protection Department says towns must provide public restrooms every half-mile along the beach and parking.
The DEP says towns that fail to do so won’t be eligible for $25 million in shore-protection aid.
The DEP also says towns, counties and nonprofit groups seeking Green Acres funding along waterways must provide public access.
