LONDON (AP) – Eric Clapton could be the first Western rock star to play in North Korea. He just hasn’t said yes yet. A North Korean diplomat in London says an invitation has been extended to Clapton to play in Pyongyang. The diplomat, who declined to give his name, says, “It will be a good opportunity for Western music to be understood better by Koreans.” Clapton’s spokeswoman, Kristen Foster, says Clapton gets many invitations to play in countries around the world and there’s no agreement for him to play a concert there. North Korean authorities have frowned upon rock and pop music. However, the son of national leader Kim Jong Il, who went to school in Switzerland, is reportedly a huge Clapton fan.
