New Jersey has seemingly always had a north-south split personality, with some residents geared more
toward New York and others Philadelphia.
And a new poll out today finds the split means very little if you live in northern areas of the state.
But it’s very annoying if you’re from the south, where residents think their northern neighbors benefit by getting more government spending.
The Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey Poll found 56% of southern Jersey residents feel northern Jersey gets more than their fair share of government spending.
But only 22 percent of north Jerseyans share that view.
The poll also found no one can agree on where north Jersey ends and south Jersey begins.
And that’s further muddled by some who contend the state has a distinct Central Jersey region.
