LONDON (AP) – A British magazine has apologized to Morrissey for implying he was a racist and a hypocrite. Morrissey had sued The Word magazine for libel over a review of his latest album. Morrissey’s lawyer, John Read, says the article suggested Morrissey had racist opinions and was a hypocrite because his parents were immigrants from Ireland. Reid calls that “absurd.” Word’s attorney, Caroline Kean, says Word has offered “sincere apologies” and points out that Morrissey is “a keen supporter of anti-racist groups.” Morrissey says he’s “delighted” to have his name cleared.
