VATICAN CITY (AP) – The Vatican is moving past John Lennon’s comment about The Beatles being more popular than Jesus. A Vatican newspaper (L’Osservatore Romano) says that comment angered a lot of people in 1966, but now that remark can be attributed to a young man with unexpected success shooting off his mouth. The paper is giving props to The Beatles’ “White Album,” which is marking its 40th anniversary. The paper says that album showed The Beatles’ creativity, compared with what it calls the “standardized, stereotypical” music being made today.
