The humpback whale entangled in fishing gear was freed yesterday afternoon off the coast of Sandy Hook.An entanglement team from the Center for Coastal Studies in Massachusetts cut the whale free about 4:30 in the afternoon. On Tuesday the whale had a fishing net caught on it’s tail. Teri Frady a representative from NOAA said that the whale, “does have serious injuries, but it is much better off than being anchored in the shipping lane.”
