SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – The former bassist from Creedence Clearwater Revival is hoping you’ll take a chance on an album that’s nearly 20 years old because he thinks it rocks. Stu Cook, now of Creedence Clearwater Revisited, has helped resurrect a record by a side project called Jackdawg. It also included Doobie Brothers guitarist John McFee and drummer Keith Knudsen (kih-NOOD’-sen), who has since died. Cook says they finished the album in the late ’80s just as musical trends changed, so their label shelved the project. It just recently came to light again. Cook says if you like CCR and the Doobies, you’ll like this. He says it’s a “fairly aggressive” album and the songs are “very in your face.” ”Jackdawg” come out Tuesday.
