Police say a bank was robbed in a South Jersey town just minutes after four of its five public schools received bomb threats.

Police say the bomb threats were called in to the schools one after another starting at 9:42 a.m. The schools were evacuated, and searches of the buildings found nothing amiss.

The robbery at a TD Bank branch came amid the hubbub. Authorities say a robber wearing a maroon ball cap and a long black wig showed up at about 10 a.m. and escaped with an undetermined amount of money.

In an e-mail to parents, school Superintendent Alan Fegley said it appeared the bomb threats were made as a diversion.

But Police Chief John Manning said it might have been a coincidence. The bomb threats also interrupted final exams.
