All along I just assumed that HD radio meant High Definition. I mean really, we can watch something in high definition, why can’t we hear something in it? Alas, I was wrong. While it is a better signal, it actually stands for Hybrid Digital… a digital and analog signal at the same time. In other words, say if a radio station, such as 90.5 the Night, started multi-casting and you had an HD radio… you could hear the original broadcast as well as say an ‘alternative’ broadcast or two on the HD2 or HD3 signals with just the push of a button or the flip of a switch… so there would be a whole lot more 90.5 the Night going around. Pretty cool, huh?
