NJ Braces For Windy, Wet Weather

Posted on March 12, 2010 by

So much for March coming in like a lamb in New Jersey.

Forecasters say the lion will roar in the form of rain and strong winds this weekend.

A flood watch is in effect for most of the Garden State from Saturday morning through Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service says there may be widespread minor and locally moderate tidal flooding and beach erosion along the coast.

Forecasters also say heavy rain could cause flooding inland.

There’s the potential for powerful northeast winds packing gusts up to 50 mph that could down tree branches and power lines.

New Jersey was hit by three major snow storms in February. Snow melt has left the ground saturated in many areas.
