Per-student costs rising at Shore: Highest: Asbury, $24G; lowest: Toms River, $10G

The cost to educate a student has crept up in most school districts in Monmouth and Ocean counties in the past year, with some schools spending nearly twice the state average.  Nearly half of all area districts spent more money per student than the state average in 2010, according to a review of state Department of Education spending reports released today.   The highest per-student cost for a K-12 district was in Asbury Park, which held the top spot last year.
