BEACH BOYS PERFORM AT JAZZ FESTIVAL

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – It was quite a way to mark their 50th anniversary. The Beach Boys had thousands of fans sing about fun in the sun as they closed out Friday’s opening day of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The appearance was part of a reunion tour that kicked off last week in Tucson, Arizona. Among those on hand to hear the group: actor John Stamos, who played the Beach Boy-loving Uncle Jesse on the TV show “Full House.” He introduced the group as “America’s Band” and said that they played what he called “heart music” – because it “bypasses the brain and goes straight to the heart.”
