Monmouth Park Racetrack saw an uptick in attendance but drop in wagers this season, more than five months after new management took over the track, operators announced Sunday. Although attendance was up, total handle, or amount wagered, dropped from $490,000 in 2011 to $471,043 this season, according to a news release. The average number of people attending races was 8,403 people this year, a 10.9 percent increase from the previous year, according to the release. Going into the 2012 season, NJTHA took first steps toward revitalizing the track, including installing four video boards and bringing in a new caterer.
