NJ Senate to vote on raising minimum wage to $8.50
Senate President Steve Sweeney says he’s ready for a showdown with the governor over raising the state’s minimum wage. The Senate is voting on a bill Thursday to raise the wage by $1.25 per hour, to $8.50, and tie automatic yearly adjustments to the Consumer Price Index. Gov. Christie says neither Sweeney nor Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver has negotiated with him over the minimum wage.
