Redeem Her
Redeem Her is a non-profit organization whose roots began inside the confines of the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton. It is an inmate and ex-offender directed, self-help, service organization. The group was formed by inmates who were bold enough to forge a new direction in a place where one is expected only to follow directions; by women who sought to change the culture of the institution to one of cooperation, community, and service. The group has three core parts to its vision: first, to change the preconception that society has about women in prison. Second, to provide positive role models to women still incarcerated and finally, to meet the tangible, practical needs of incarcerated and recently-released women. Redeem her has many opportunities for those interested in volunteering. They are seeking people with grant writing experience, computer skills for their EBay fundraising and clothing programs and much more.
