Family and Children’s Service

Long Branch-based Family and Children’s Service has been serving people at vulnerable times in their lives through education, intervention, care and counseling since 1909.  By creating and maintaining strong community partnerships, investing in the professional development of their staff and continuously improving the quality of services, FCS strives to be the standard by which other social service agencies in Monmouth County are judged.  Family and Children’s Service is Monmouth County’s oldest non-profit and is currently running their annual holiday program, “Operation Sleighbells”.  This is a way to give area children a brighter holiday season. The project has grown to provide more than 25-hundred children with the gifts of warm clothing, toys and books each year. Families from communities throughout Monmouth County register with Family & Children’s Service to receive much-needed items, and there are many ways you can help.  You can sign up to:  “Adopt” a family and provide toys, gifts, clothing and even a supermarket gift card or food basket enabling that family to have a “holiday of a lifetime.”    Or, Donate toys, gifts and clothing for the children in the program. Hats, gloves, mittens, underwear and pajamas are requested by every family that calls.  Also, Volunteer opportunities exist for students and other organizations interested in sorting and packaging items for gift distribution.
