NJ Democratic Committee pays $42K fine

The New Jersey State Democratic Committee has paid $42,000 fine to settle a complaint over spending in the gubernatorial election in 2009.  The committee did not admit any wrongdoing as it made the settlement, which was announced Wednesday by the state Election Law Enforcement Commission.  ELEC says the committee broke campaign finance law when it made $227,000 in in-kind election expenditures to help then-Gov. Jon Corzine.
