NEW YORK (AP) – Steven Van Zandt made sure the actors in the film “Not Fade Away” were musicians by the time they started shooting.
Van Zandt is one of the movie’s executive producers and its music supervisor, and he made them learn in three months what took him three years to learn. He says for five or six hours a day, seven days a week, he’d have them practice in his studio. He says by the time the cameras rolled, the actors knew how to play. “Not Fade Away” opens in more theaters today.
