TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Snow, sleet and rain are slowing the morning commute and causing some schools to delay opening.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon and Somerset counties.
The National Weather Service is calling for as much as 6 inches of snow in New Jersey’s higher elevations before it changes to freezing rain.
The freezing rain will turn to rain as temperatures warm up Wednesday.
Many schools in northwest Jersey are opening later than usual because of the winter weather.
It’s been a rainy morning for most of the state.
