TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — State election officials in New Jersey have given another $103,626 in public matching funds to Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono.
Including the funds dispersed Wednesday, the Metuchen senator has so far received $788,000 for the primary election for which she has no notable opponent.
Buono likely will face Republican Gov. Chris Christie in November.
The state match is $2 for every $1 raised to a maximum of $3.5 million for the primary and $8.2 million for the general election.
Candidates who accept matching funds have spending caps for the primary and general election.
Christie decided for forego matching funds because of his ability to raise money for his re-election campaign.
He’s raised about $5 million so far.
