MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (AP) — State police say an elderly man driving the wrong way on the Garden State Parkway was killed when his car collided head-on with another vehicle.
The Asbury Park Press of Neptune reports 80-year-old Leonard Danduone of New Providence died in Saturday’s crash near milemarker 113 in Middletown Township. But it’s still not clear how he ended up driving north in the highway’s southbound lane.
The driver of the other vehicle, 37-year-old Michael Aberback of Morristown, was hospitalized in critical condition, but further details on his injury were not disclosed.
Authorities say the collision led to a chain reaction where two other vehicles became involved in the crash. But no other injuries were reported.
