MILL VALLEY, Calif. (AP) – You shouldn’t leave a car with its engine running. But even if you do, if someone takes it, they’re breaking the law. That’s what happened to the woman accused of swiping Huey Lewis’ rental car earlier this year. Katherine Bowyer Gallagher has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of possession of stolen property. A California newspaper reports she’ll be sentenced next month. Huey Lewis was staying at a Holiday Inn Express in February when his rental was taken – with his laptop inside. Lewis says he left the car idling to return to the hotel for a receipt – and came back to find the car gone.
