FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) — A Jersey Shore restaurant owner accused of shooting a woman in the parking lot of his restaurant has made an initial court appearance.
Sixty-two-year-old Louis Cataldo appeared before a Monmouth County judge Wednesday on attempted murder and weapons charges. His bail was increased from $1.5 million to $3.5 million due to charges that he shot at police when they apprehended him.
Ocean County prosecutors say Louis Cataldo barricaded himself in his Point Pleasant home for several hours Tuesday before he fired one shot at four members of the county SWAT team. No officers were injured.
Cataldo is charged in Ocean County with criminal attempt, weapons charges and four counts of attempted murder.
Authorities say Cataldo shot a 35-year-old woman outside the Sand Bar restaurant in Brielle early Tuesday.
