NJ gov debates set for Montclair State, W Paterson

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — The sites for two gubernatorial debates this fall in New Jersey are set. They are Montclair State University and William Paterson University in Wayne.

The state election commission, which selects the debate sponsors, announced the choices Tuesday.

Dates have not yet been decided.

William Paterson is partnering with WCBS-TV in New York; KYW-TV in Philadelphia; New Jersey’s Gannett newspapers; The Record and its sister paper, the Herald News.

The commission says Montclair State’s co-sponsors include NJTV.

Kean University in Union was chosen to host the lieutenant governor debate.

Republican Gov. Chris Christie is running for a second term. His Democratic challenger is state Sen. Barbara Buono of Middlesex County. The election is Nov. 5.
