EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The wife of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg will join Rep. Frank Pallone on the campaign trail.
Bonnie Lautenberg will tout Pallone’s environmental record during an event at a former Superfund toxic waste site in East Rutherford Monday.
She and Lautenberg’s children have endorsed Pallone to fill the seat left vacant by her husband’s death in June.
In backing Pallone for the Democratic nomination, the family took veiled swipes against one of Pallone’s opponents, Newark Mayor Cory Booker.
The family said Pallone knows gimmicks and celebrity status won’t get you very far in the real battles that Democrats face in the future.
