25 NJ, NY, Pa. hospitals to share some resources

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Twenty-five hospitals in three states have agreed to research and share ideas about what works in a new health care alliance.

AllSpire Health Partners announced its plans Wednesday night, saying the idea is designed in reaction to President Barack Obama’s health insurance overhaul. The group says it can improve care and lower costs.

The overhaul has been a key reason for major shifts in the health care business that has seen hospitals launch insurance services and insurers get into providing health care.

The hospital systems in the new alliance are Atlantic Health System in Morristown, Hackensack University Health Network, Lancaster General Health in Lancaster, Pa., Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pa., Meridian Health in Neptune; Reading Health System in Reading, Pa., and WellSpan Health in York, Pa.
