TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A poll shows Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is getting strong support from women and independent voters in his re-election bid.
Thursday’s Quinnipiac University survey shows Christie with a 23-point lead over Democrat Barbara Buono among likely women voters.
The poll also shows Christie leads Buono 71 to 22 percent among independent voters. Democrats support Buono 67 to 28 percent.
Christie holds a nearly two-to-one lead over Buono among all likely voters polled.
The telephone survey of 1,144 likely voters in New Jersey has a sampling error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
