AAA Mid-Atlantic: NJ gas prices rise sharply

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Motorists continue to see sharply higher prices at the pumps in New Jersey.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the state on Friday was $3.27, up 8 cents from last week. But that’s still lower than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.50.

The national average price was $3.28, up 4 cents from last week. But that’s lower than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.41.

Analysts say the rising prices are mostly due to planned and unplanned maintenance work at several refineries in the Gulf Coast region, which supplies the mid-Atlantic region.
