NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey’s governor is reminding people that the Super Bowl will be played in his state this weekend.
Chris Christie weighed in Monday on recent comments by New Jersey politicians who say the state was getting slighted in the NFL’s promotional game materials.
Christie said he wanted to “remind his friends in New York” that the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks arrived Sunday at Newark Liberty International Airport, not JFK or LaGuardia, and are staying and playing in New Jersey.
Christie said visitors were free to go to New York and enjoy “a couple of good restaurants, and some theater and stuff to do.” But he added that game announcers on Sunday are not going to say “Live from New York City — because that would be a lie.”
