ASBURY PARK, N.J. (AP) — Prosecutors say two adults and a young child wounded in an Asbury Park street shooting were not the intended targets.
But they tell the Asbury Park Press that a motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
Authorities have said as many as 15 bullets were fired around 7:30 p.m. Monday as children played on Comstock Street. But they have declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
The 29-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were both treated at a hospital and released, while the woman’s year-old daughter was expected to be released by Tuesday night.
Capt. Anthony Salerno told the newspaper that someone knows who committed the shooting and needs to step forward to stop the violence.
