The US Department of Veterans Affairs maintains a fleet of 70 Mobile Vet Centers that are designed to extend the reach of services through focused outreach to communities that do not meet the requirements for a “brick and mortar” Vet Center.
On Jun 12, VFW Post 2179 on Route 36 in Middletown will be hosting the MVC in their parking lot. This Mobile Vet Center from Lakewood will begin weekly counseling and outreach services there. Vet Centers also provide counseling services to the family members of those who have fallen while on active duty. The MVC is staffed by a counselor and an outreach specialist.
Because the MVC is a multi-purpose vehicle, it will continue to fulfill its mission to provide Outreach services at events around the state. If the counselor is not required in the MVC at those events, Post 2179 will provide a private office so the counselor can continue to meet with Veterans and their families
