Storms bring lightning to Pennsylvania, New Jersey

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Storms moving through southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey have brought lightning as well as rain.

National Weather Service meteorologist Jared Klein says there were “thousands of lightning strikes” during Wednesday night’s thunderstorms.

KYW-TV reports (cbsloc.al/1pKV81t) that lightning strikes are suspected of causing several house fires in the Philadelphia region, including one that caused extensive damage to a home in Montgomery Township.

More storms are forecast for Thursday. Klein says heavy rain is possible in some areas.
