Authorities end search for reported missing person

SEA BRIGHT, N.J. (AP) — Rescue crews have ended their search for a paddle boarder who reportedly went missing in waters off the Jersey Shore this weekend.

The Star-Ledger reports that the search started Saturday after someone told a beach club staffer that a paddle boarder had gone into the water near Sea Bright and had not returned.

The staffer notified police, who began a lengthy search with the help of the Coast Guard and emergency responders from Sea Bright and other nearby towns.

Sea Bright police announced Sunday morning that they were not planning to resume the search, calling the missing person report “unconfirmed.”
