Investigators seeking cause of fatal shed fire

UNION BEACH, N.J. (AP) — Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a massive shed fire that killed a central New Jersey man.

Family members tell the Asbury Park Press that 51-year-old Paul Curtis was killed in the fire, which broke out shortly before midnight Saturday at his family’s Union Beach home.

Curtis’s father, Chris Curtis Sr., told the newspaper that his son suffered from grand mal seizures. So when he heard a loud noise, he assumed his son had fallen down from another attack.

But when he went to check on him, he saw the fire and soon noticed his son lying on his back in the yard. Paul Curtis was pronounced dead a short time later.

No other injuries were reported in the fire.
