New Jersey faces thunderstorm threat

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Thunderstorms are possible across New Jersey along with the threat of flash flooding.

The National Weather Service is predicting showers and thunderstorms are expected Monday afternoon and evening as well as on Tuesday.

Forecasters say 1 to 3 inches of rain may fall in a brief period. That could cause streams and creeks to rise quickly.

There’s a moderate risk of rip currents at the Jersey shore.
