SEASIDE HEIGHTS (NJ.com) — The frame of a home under construction in a new development in Seaside Heights collapsed as a heavy storm pounded the region overnight, officials said.
Christopher Vaz, the acting borough administrator, said he could not say exactly what caused the collapse. But, he said, “it was very windy here, so that could play in.”
The development is located on West Central Avenue between Grant and Sherman avenues, Vaz said.
He said no one was injured in the collapse, which happened in the “wee hours” of the morning today.
A heavy storm passed through the region overnight that knocked out power for thousands of New Jersey residents and dumped up to nearly 9 inches of rain in southern New Jersey.
