TOMS RIVER — Police in Toms River are continuing to search for an 18-year-old woman who was reported missing by her mother on Aug. 12.
Kayla Tufaro was last seen leaving her home at approximately 4 p.m. on Aug. 11, according to Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department. On her way out of the house, police said, Tufaro told her mother that she “wanted to do her own thing” and not to look for her.
Tufaro’s mother reported her missing the following day at 1:18 p.m., Stocco said.
Several detectives initiated an investigation, police said, and Tufaro was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), a database used by law enforcement nationwide.
Her status is listed as “missing,” police said.
Police said Tufaro is about 5 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds. She is described as having brown hair, brown eyes and a nose piercing.
Anyone with information of her whereabouts is urged to call Detective Jennifer Grob at 732-349-0150 ext. 1319.
