Man attempted to lure 2 boys into van, Ocean Township police say

OCEAN TOWNSHIP (NJ.com) –Authorities are looking for a man who tried to lure two boys into a van.

On Aug. 21, the man approached the boys, ages 11 and 12, at West Park Avenue and Whalepond Road, yelling at them to go over to the van, police said Wednesday. The boys ran away and told their parents, who called police at around 8:20 p.m., police said.

The driver was described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, with balding hair and small strands of hair on the side of his head, police said. He also had a light, “scruffy” beard.

The white van had a regular sized front driver and passenger windows with a smaller tinted window that went along the side of the van, police said. The victims told police there was also a small amount of rust on the rear driver side and middle of the van, authorities said.

Police are asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed anything suspicious to contact Detective Bryan Morgan at 732-531-1800.
