Home and car damaged in early morning Red Bank blaze

RED BANK –Shortly before 12:30 a.m., emergency responders were called to a home on Madison Avenue for a reported house fire, Red Bank Police Chief Darren McConnell said via email.

Firefighters arrived to find the front porch area and a vehicle in the driveway fully involved, McConnell said.

“The occupant escaped on her own thanks to smoke detectors in the home,” said McConnell, adding a cat did die in the fire.

Fire departments from Fair Haven and Middletown responded to assist the Red Bank fire department, along with the Red Bank and Fair Haven EMS squads, McConnell said.

The fire was under control in about 35 minutes and units cleared the scene at approximately 4 a.m., he said.

The cause of the fire was not known as of 8 a.m. and it was being investigation by the Red Bank Fire Marshal’s Office and Monmouth County Fire Marshal at that time, McConnell said.
