MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a woman fatally stabbed her mother inside their apartment at a southern New Jersey complex.
But a motive for the slaying remains under investigation.
Burlington County prosecutors say 23-year-old Marisa Rivera faces murder and weapons charges in the death of 56-year-old Denise DeNapoli. It’s not known if Rivera has retained an attorney.
Mount Laurel police found DeNapoli’s body Friday morning at the Ramblewood Village apartment complex. They went there after DeNapoli failed to show up for work and her concerned co-workers contacted authorities.
Rivera allegedly stabbed her mother around 3:30 a.m. Friday and fled the apartment. She was found Friday night at a township hotel.
It’s not known if anyone else was in the apartment when the stabbing occurred.
