In Beirut, the death of a Shiite demonstrator Sunday has raised the stakes in the ongoing confrontation between Hezbollah and its allies and the Lebanese government. Cities Lure White-Collar Workers Onto Buses

Increasing numbers of commuters are using buses as a faster and cheaper way to get to work, new figures show. Marketplace: IRS to Use Flawed Computer Again

The IRS plans to use a flawed computer for the coming tax season, despite multiple warnings. The same computer issued $200 million in erroneous refunds during the 2006 season. Texas to Review ‘Futile Care’ Guidelines for Doctors

A Texas law allows hospitals and doctors to refuse treatment when a patient’s condition is considered “futile.” Legislators thought the guidelines would help doctors and families, but real-life cases have shown that families have had to fight to keep their loved ones alive. The law is due to be reviewed by the state soon, seven years after it was signed into effect.

Mormon Mitt Romney’s Potential as President

Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a Republican, is expected to run for president in 2008. He has stances his party likes: He’s pro-life, pro-gun, pro-capital punishment, and anti-gay marriage. But Romney is a Mormon, and that could be a political setback to him becoming president.
