Authorities: Shooting victim involved in Eatontown car crash

EATONTOWN, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a shooting victim who apparently was being driven to a hospital in a private car escaped serious injury when the car crashed and overturned on a central New Jersey highway.

The Asbury Park Press reports that the shooting occurred in Eatontown, but police there declined to provide details on the woman who was wounded or further information about the shooting. They also would not say if any arrests had been made.

The car accident occurred around 1 a.m. Wednesday at Route 36 and Broadway in West Long Branch.

Monmouth County prosecutors said the woman was hospitalized in good condition, but they did not disclose further information about her or the person driving the car.

The shooting and the car accident remain under investigation.
