Man charged in stabbing of gas station attendant

BRICK, N.J. (AP) — Attempted murder charges have been filed against a southern New Jersey man accused of stabbing a gas station attendant during a robbery.

Brick police say bail was set at $540,000 cash for Samuel Patriaco Jr., who also faces robbery, weapons and drug charges. He was being held at the Ocean County Jail, and it was not known Tuesday if he had retained a lawyer.

Patriaco was arrested hours after the robbery occurred Monday afternoon. Authorities have said the robber approached the attendant and demanded money, then allegedly stabbed him while he was turning over the money.

The injured attendant was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, but further details on his condition were not disclosed.
