Mortally wounded man apparently was shot at home

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — Prosecutors say a man found mortally wounded at his central New Jersey home apparently had been shot.

But it’s still not clear why the shooting occurred.

Middlesex County prosecutors say North Brunswick police found 43-year-old Brian Hoey when they responded to the Belcourt Townhomes at Hidden Lake around 1:25 a.m. Monday. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

It’s believed that Hoey was shot outside his home. But further details about the ongoing investigation were not disclosed, including what type of weapon may have been used or how many shooters were involved.

Prosecutors say an autopsy was being performed Monday, but the results were not immediately available.

No other injuries were reported in the incident.

No arrests have been made.
