Postal employee accused of dumping 1,800 pieces of mail

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a postal employee in New Jersey dumped more than 1,800 pieces of mail. Authorities on Wednesday charged 26-year-old Nicholas Beauchene, of Kearny, with delay, secretion or detention of mail and obstruction of mail. The mail included 99 election ballots more than 600 pieces of first class mail. Prosecutors say the discarded mail was recovered from trash dumpsters in North Arlington and West Orange. It had been scheduled to be delivered to addresses in Orange and West Orange. The recovered mail was placed back into the mail stream for delivery.
