Middletown, NJ—During the month of September, exceptional art produced by local artists will be on display at the Manasquan River Group of Artists' Invitational Art Show and Sale, sponsored by Manasquan Bank, at the Middletown Arts Center. The show will feature the art of 65 MRGA members and their guests from the Art Society of Monmouth County who will compete for awards provided by OceanFirst Bank.The show will be open September 3-29 during business hours. The Manasquan River Group of Artists was formed in 1938 by Ida Wells Stroud, a prominent artist and teacher in the School of Fine Arts in Newark, and her daughter, Clara, who resided each summer in Herbertsville where Ida held outdoor painting classes on the banks of the Manasquan River. The group first met in members' homes. Today MRGA meets at the Curtis House in Brielle and remains true to its roots to promote the work of local artists.

The 8th Annual Asbury Park Porchfest will be on 9/28, rain date 9/29. We have music at 27 locations around town 1-6pm. Williams Honor will kickoff will kickoff the day on a stage outside the Transparent Clinch Gallery at 12:00pm. This year we ae raising funds for the Mercy Center & Trinity Churches Code Blue program.

Join us for our Silent Movie Day Celebration 2024, saluting this timeless art form enjoyed for generations! We’ll begin the festivities with a screening of the Laurel & Hardy short Habeus Corpus, followed by Buster Keaton’s Steamboat Bill, Jr. which includes one of the most famous film stunts of all time!
Both films were released in 1928, the same year our historic UCPAC Main Stage was built. Organ accompaniment for both movies will be performed by Ian Fraser on our “Biggest Little Wurlitzer”, which is original to our theater. Enjoy free popcorn, themed drinks, and more. Please dress in black, white, and/or gray and get ready for your close up!
