A Frozen Navesink Brings Out Ice Boaters

Thomas McBride

Along with the cold weather, ice boats returned to a local river.

According to the Asbury Park Press, this is the first time since 2018 that members of the North Shrewsbury Ice Boat and Yacht Club were able to hit the icy Navesink and set sail on the frozen river. In order to enjoy the sport safely, the ice must be four inches thick, and that requires no less than three straight nights of temperatures below 15 degrees.

I’ve had my dream job of waking up with all the great listeners and members of Brookdale Public Radio since January 3, 2005. Prior to this job, I began my career in radio at NJ 101.5 FM as a producer. From there, I took time off from radio to do other things. (including becoming a mom!)
