Developer pulls plug on plans for a discount store in Middletown

The vacant lot on Leonardville Road in the Belford section of Middletown may be getting a new discount store.

Brenden B. Santiago of Tinton Falls was charged with one count of third-degree Shoplifting and one count of fourth-degree Attempted Shoplifting after stealing from multiple locations of a discount department-store chain.

Middletown, NJ – On July 29, 2023 at approximately 6:26pm, Middletown Twp. Police responded to Thompson County Park, located at 805 Newman Springs Road, in the Lincroft section of Middletown Twp. for a report of a missing swimmer. Officers arrived on scene and immediately began to search for the swimmer in distress as well as the callers. It was determined that the group had walked through a trail in the park to reach the Swimming River reservoir, which is located along the border of the park and Brookdale Community College.

According to Middletown Patch, a Trader Joe’s market will be opening sometime later this year in the Township.
